Police to be out in numbers in towns and cities tonight

The Fiji Police Force is calling on everyone to monitor their children if they are planning to go out to celebrate tonight as people will be out in towns with families to welcome the New Year.

Chief Operations Officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu says they will be out in numbers on our roads and around the city area.

He says this will be one area they will look into which they are very concerned about.

Acting ACP Driu is also calling on nightclub owners to restrict entry to minors inside the nightclub while police officers will be going into nightclubs checking for minors inside.

He is urging club security to check on peoples Identification Card if they are not certain of their age and not to allow minors to manipulate them in getting inside the club.

ACP Driu is calling on everyone to corporate in making this New Year safe and incident free for everyone.

He adds police will be out in numbers to ensure everyone’s safety but like they always say, safety starts with you.
