Police remember fallen officers

Police remember fallen officers
16 police officers died while in service over the last 12 months.

As people gathered to remember them during the Police Remembrance Day this morning, Minister for National Security and Defence, Joketani Cokanasiga said that police officers have a common goal to combat all sorts of crime.

While addressing family members and members of the diplomatic corp at the Police Special Response Unit in Narere, Cokanasiga said that police work is about service and keeping the community safe at all times and as time moves on, it will be even harder as they will be involved with new and emerging crimes.

He challenged all police officers to carry out their duty well.

Meanwhile, it was a sad morning for Mereseini Tagicakibau, the mother of the late Luisa Tagicakibau who passed away while on duty last year.

Tagicakibau said that her daughter had just turned 21 and was called to rest in November last year.

The services were held at Labasa, Lautoka and Suva this morning.
