Police have managed to reduce crime by 23% in 2013.
While addressing officers during the fourth quarter parade in Suva, Acting Police Commissioner Ravi Narayan also revealed that complaints and disciplinary offences have been reduced by 58% and serious crime is down by 17%.
Narayan said for crime against women, the Fiji Police Force recorded a major reduction of 88%.
According to Narayan, from the 2,115 crime against women cases reported for the fourth quarter of 2012, they reduced this to 1,903 for the 2013 period.
He said they also managed to reduce crime against children by 82%.
Narayan also said out of the 4,406 registered crimes last year, they solved 3,095 cases.
For the first time ever, the Fiji Police Force has achieved all of their Key Performance Indicators for 2013.
ACP Ravi Narayan credited the achievement of the Key Performance Indicators to their resources.
Meanwhile, Ravi Narayan has once again reminded police officers to remain apolitical.
Narayan told more than 900 police officers that government’s path towards elections has been set and their role is clear.
Narayan said if officers want to associate themselves with any political party then the Fiji Police is not for them.
