Police recovers 5-year-old boy’s body

Police have managed to recover the body of a 5 year old boy who went missing while swimming with his three other friends in the Waibasaga river in Naitasiri on Sunday afternoon.

Nausori Police has confirmed that the body was found on the river bank yesterday afternoon.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted soon.

His body was located by officers from the Vunidawa Police station with the help of Waibasaga villagers.

He went swimming with three other children at around 2pm however was discovered missing at around 4pm when the other children were preparing to return to the village.

Meanwhile Police are looking for a woman and her two year old son who went missing last week.

According to police, the woman's husband, Ritesh Chandra of Namara settlement yesterday reported that he got separated with his wife Priyanka Nair two years ago and since then Chandra and his mother looked after the child.

Police say the grandmother took the two year old to Suva for shopping on Friday where they met Priyanka.

She asked permission from the grandmother if she could hug him and allegedly forcefully took the child in a taxi.

Police say they don't have any information on the whereabouts of the two, and they are calling on the public to come forward if they have information about the incident.
