A police officer has been posted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital to guard the man alleged to have caused the death of his partner in Nakasi yesterday.
Police say the circumstances surrounding how the suspect sustained injuries are still under investigation.
A post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the victim's cause of death.
Nakasi Police had discovered the woman, in her 30s, motionless inside her bedroom.
They say further enquiries confirmed the suspect had been admitted to hospital as a result of injuries allegedly sustained during the domestic dispute with the victim.
Investigations are ongoing.
