Police are investigating an element of parental negligence where a 1-year-old boy passed away after a coconut tree fell on him at Davuilevu Housing on Saturday.

Deputy Divisional Police Commander East ASP Uraia Davu says from the post-mortem results, the boy had injured his head when the coconut tree fell on him.

Police had earlier said that the child was with his mother outside their Davuilevu Housing home when the incident occurred.

The boy was rushed to the Nakasi Health Centre, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.
