Police are currently investigating an alleged case of negligence after the body of a child that was found in waters off Vatutavoi in Ba on Monday was identified as the 3 year old boy reported missing on the 30th of last month.
According to Police, the boy was accompanied by his grandfather to check their boat which was stuck in the mangrove plants along the Velovelo area in Lautoka when the incident occurred.
The child’s body was discovered by a woman who was catching crabs and found the partly decomposed body stuck in a nearby mangrove and alerted Police.
A post mortem examination will be carried out soon.
