Police are encouraging members of the public to call Police if they have any information on the illegal sale of alcohol in their area.
Police Chief of Operations Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed that upon information received regarding the illegal sale of alcohol in a village in Naitasiri, an operation team from the Eastern Division arrested a man in his 30s who was questioned and released after he was found with 15 cartons of alcoholic beverages earlier this week.
He says as Police focus on bootleggers in the main towns and city areas Police will also be coming down hard on those selling liquor illegally in rural areas as it has become an issue of concern.
Tudravu also stressed that alcohol-related crimes often spike during the festive season which is why Police are urging members of the public to call Police if people have any information about those selling liquor illegally.
