Police dismisses viral missing child report stating that it is fake news

Following a Facebook post that is being shared widely claiming that a report was lodged regarding a missing child, the Fiji Police Force has confirmed that there is no report of this at any of their police stations around the Suva area.

The post has now been deleted while the original poster has no other detail on their profile about who they might be, how to contact them or where they are.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu is calling on everyone to post responsibily on social media.

He says they should be responsible and not create hate or cause false alarm to anyone.

ACP Driu says in the case of any report, they are urging members of the community to report the matter first to the Police before posting on social media.
