Police clarifies misunderstanding regarding guidelines on movement within the containment zone

The Fiji Police Force has clarified to those drivers who were stuck at the Tamavua and Cunningham junction this morning as the officers who were manning the checkpoint were asking drivers to get a pass to drive even within the containment zone.

Police Spokesperson, Savaira Tabua says things are being clarified to those manning the checkpoints.

She says it is a new service for them and they are trying their best to ensure everything runs smoothly and people need to understand the situation on the ground.

A driver says they have been providing the service to essential workers who need to get to work.

He says police were asking drivers to produce a pass to be allowed to go through the checkpoint.

The driver says they were stuck for over an hour this morning.

Police has clarified that there is no need to obtain a pass if you are travelling to work within the containment zone but it is vital to show your work ID.
