Members of the public are advised to disregard and block any requests from the number +679 836 9719, which is purporting to be from the Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, requesting sponsorship assistance.

Police say the Criminal Investigations Department is investigating the circulation of Viber messages from this number, which falsely claim to be from the Commissioner seeking funding for various small projects.

They confirm this is a scam and urge the public to remain vigilant.

Members of the public are also warned not to share any personal information via messaging platforms with anyone claiming to be an official of either a private or public organization.
