A police officer in Lautoka is in custody for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

This has been confirmed by the Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan who says this shows they will not spare anyone who breaks the law.

ACP Khan says the message is clear that people who are drinking should do it responsibly.

When asked on what action will be taken against this officer, Khan says there will be an internal investigation and the Acting Police Commissioner will make a decision.

He says police will continue to increase visibility on our roads with a lot of movement expected.

Khan says it is unfortunate that a life has been claimed yesterday due to the negligence of some drivers and it is vital to take extra care on our roads.
