Investigating Officer Vishneel Shankaran

Internal Affairs is investigating the case of Investigating Officer Vishneel Shankaran, who was arrested and handed over to FICAC during a court sitting this morning for allegedly demanding money from two sureties.

While responding to fijivillage News, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says the law will take its course.

After the story was published, people also reached out claiming that the officer had demanded money from them as well.

Tudravu says that if anyone else wishes to lodge a report, they should do so.

He adds that officers have been warned about corruption.

Meanwhile, sureties David Kumar and James Rattan informed Suva Magistrate Yogesh Prasad this morning that Shankaran demanded money from them.

They says the Investigating Officer demanded money in exchange for removing their names as sureties.

Magistrate Yogesh Prasad says corruption undermines the wheel of justice and is one of the major problems in Fiji.

We have also sent questions to FICAC.
