Police Cybercrime Unit warns about risky texting competition

Fijians have been warned to exercise caution by the Fiji Police Force Cybercrime Unit regarding a local texting competition that asks participants to send two dollars via MPAiSA for a chance to win a thousand dollars.

Police say the Cybercrime Unit is closely monitoring online activities, including competitions and urges people to think twice before participating.

They say authorities advise the public to be cautious or avoid participating altogether while the investigation continues.

They add that the Unit is consulting with relevant stakeholders to establish clear guidelines for texting competitions and promotions in Fiji.
