Police Commissioner orders investigation into Lautoka assault incident

COMPOL admits what the officer did was unacceptable

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu confirms that an investigation is underway following the circulation of a video on social media allegedly showing a police officer assaulting a member of the public in Lautoka.

Tudravu acknowledged the officer’s actions were inappropriate and stated that the Internal Affairs Unit has been tasked with handling the case.

He admits that what the officer did was unacceptable adding that investigators have visited the scene and collected witness statements.

Tudravu says that he will await the full findings of the investigation before determining the next course of action.
