Police Commissioner hopes for mandatory drug testing powers
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu

Voluntary drug testing is currently underway within the Fiji Police Force as part of efforts to ensure discipline and integrity among officers.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says he hopes that in the future, new legislation will empower the Commissioner to direct mandatory drug testing for officers whenever necessary.

Tudravu further says that drug testing is already conducted during the initial recruitment process for all new officers.

He believes regular testing in the Force is crucial to maintaining public trust.

The Commissioner adds that the ongoing voluntary exercise reflects the Force’s commitment to a drug-free workplace and to setting an example for the wider community.
