Fijiana 7s coach Saiasi Fuli says in one-off tournaments like the 2024 Paris Olympics, it is the players themselves that select themselves into the final team and not much of the coach.

While speaking during the team’s farewell at the FASANOC Headquarters in Suva today, Fuli says the coaches just monitor the players’ work ethics in terms of individual performances during training and also during game days.

Fuli says the players have worked so hard in terms of their preparation and trying to put together a good combination for the upcoming Olympics.

He says these past two weeks have been the best training weeks so far in terms of training at home as the team has been gelling well together.

The Fijiana 7s will take on Canada at 3.30am on the 29th of this month, followed by their second match against China at 7am on the same day.

They will take on New Zealand at 2.30am on the 30th of this month.

The Women’s medal quarter final will kick off at 7am on the 30th of this month, the semi finals will begin at 1.30am on the 31st of this month with the final kicking off at 5.45am on the same day.
