The Fiji Airways National men’s 7s team is training and preparing hard to bring the winning formula back in this week's Hong Kong tournament and according to players, they have felt the positive changes that coach Osea Kolinisau has brought into the team.

This was the sentiment shared by Fiji 7s reps Suliano Volivolituevei and Rubeni Kabu who said that spirits are high in camp as they anticipate a hard and exciting tournament at the end of this week.

Volivolituevei says with the transitioning of coaches from Ben Gollings to the current 7s coach, the players have noticed a big change in the way they impart their coaching techniques as Kolinisau has brought back the ways and techniques that Fiji is renowned for.

He says they are working on areas they can improve, specifically off the field before they can improve on key areas on the field.

Volivolituevei says the game is won off the field with discipline and teamwork.

When questioned by fijivillage News on the mental preparations of the team, with the inclusion of some debutants in the squad, the duo says that Kolinisau has given the new players the scenarios of how to combat the mental toughness of winning tournaments in such environments.

The men’s team will open their Hong Kong 7s campaign against Australia at 9.30pm Friday, they will then take on Canada at 12.33am Saturday and play France at 5.43pm Saturday in their final pool match. The Fijiana 7s side will begin their campaign against Australia at 4.25pm Friday, they will then take on South Africa at 7.12pm Friday, and they will play Ireland at 3.02pm Saturday. The Hong Kong 7s will be held from Friday to Sunday. The Paris Olympics Rugby 7s competition will be held from the 24th to the 30th of July.
