Civil Aviation Minister, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum has thanked Air Pacific Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Dave Pflieger who turned the airline into a profitable company.
Khaiyum said when Pflieger came to Fiji the airline was in crisis and facing extreme financial difficulties however with his skill, determination and experience he turned it around.
Pflieger he said presided over the re-branding of Air Pacific to Fiji Airways and the modernization of its fleet with the purchase of three new Airbus A330s.
Pflieger also introduced new systems and technology, including a new reservation system, forged an important code share arrangement with American Airlines and instituted a profit-sharing scheme for the airline's staff.
Khaiyum said as Air Pacific becomes Fiji Airways in June, there are exciting times ahead and much of that is due to Pflieger's hard work.
