People with autism are unique and deserve support, love and care.

While speaking during the Autism Awareness Day organized by Nausori Special Education School along with six other schools, a parent, Aliki Lisione says autism is a complex neuro-developmental disorder that affects individuals in different ways and children with autism are often differently looked at and treated.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya says autism is not a disability but a special ability that allows them to stand out.

She hopes that one day someone with special abilities will be part of parliament and will lead the nation.

The Head Teacher of Nausori Special Education School, Deepak Singh says it is crucial to come together and advocate for children who have autism.

Singh says we all must hold hands and advocate for visibility, understanding and acceptance of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

At least 100 to 150 students from different schools were present with their parents and teachers.
