The Nadi Weather Office is now calling on people to take precautionary measures from today as the weather condition is expected to worsen from later today.
Acting Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said the system lying to the North East of Fiji near Wallis and Futuna is expected to develop into a tropical depression by tomorrow and then to a tropical cyclone.
Waqaicelua said that people need to be prepared for strong winds, heavy rain and flooding of low lying areas.
Waqaicelua said that people should not be complacent and ensure that they prepare for this weather system that is heading our way.
The Weather Office is monitoring the system and will advise the public about further developments later.
