People slowly leave the evacuation centres as waters recede in Nadi

131 people are currently residing at evacuation centres across Nadi due to flash flooding, and as floodwaters start receding, people are slowly returning to their homes this morning.

The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office says people are taking shelter at Andrews Primary School, Saioni Methodist Church in Navuso, and Korovuto College in Nadi.

According to the Fiji Police Command Centre in Nadi, 98 people are sheltering at Andrews, 6 at Korovuto College, and 27 at Saioni Lavusa Church.

The Fiji Police Force continues to monitor the situation.

The Western Division Command and Coordination Centre can be contacted on 9905457 should anyone require assistance moving to higher ground.
