People raise concerns on Stamp Duty on residential rental agreement

Some people are raising concern about the Stamp Duty that has to be paid for residential tenant and landlord rental agreements.

The Stamp Duty has to be paid by the tenants.

According to the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, the one off Stamp Duty for the rental agreements is $10 for monthly rental below $700, the Stamp Duty is $20 for monthly rental from $700 to $1,500 and the duty is $500 for monthly rental above $1,500.

Some people who have contacted us are saying that the Stamp Duty for agreements is too high for monthly rental above $1,500.

We are awaiting a response from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
