People and organizations around the country are continuing to mobilise to assist the flood affected victims mainly in the Western division.
As at yesterday, about 14,000 people were at the evacuation centres however there are additional people who are not at the centres who also need assistance.
Many organizations including the religious bodies are now making the call for people to come forward and assist during this Easter weekend.
A major appeal is now underway for the people of Suva to contribute towards the relief efforts.
The Hibiscus Events Group has stepped in to team up with other organisations.
Hibiscus Events Group chairman Shridesh Prasad said they will be going out this long weekend to collect items such as clothes, cooking utensils and blankets along with other essential items in Suva.
Prasad added they will be assisted by the Vodafone Fiji Bati rugby league side and residents can also visit them with their donations at Albert Park.
Their staff will be stationed at Albert Park from 8am to 8pm from today to Sunday.
The donations will be delivered to the Western Division on Monday where the Red Cross will coordinate the distribution.
A door-to-door appeal team is currently collecting items in Vesivesi Road, Kinoya, while another team is at the Lami Police Station.
