Parliament to debate on new Accident and Compensation Bill this week
Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Parliament will debate on the new Accident and Compensation Bill this week and with the passing of the new law, the process of third party insurance for vehicle owners will change as the Land Transport Authority will start collecting the Accident and Compensation Levy.

The new law will also make life easier for third party accident victims.

Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is an urgent matter as accident victims are currently not getting third party insurance if the driver is at fault in certain cases.

Sayed-Khaiyum says there have been a lot of delays and the victims have suffered for many years.

We will have more on the Accident Compensation Bill during the debate later this week.
