Parliament is currently debating on the Investment Fiji Bill 2022 which proposes new mandates for Investment Fiji.

While speaking on the Bill, Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the purpose of realigning the mandate and functions of Investment Fiji is to enable it to move away from being a regulator of foreign investors in Fiji and to focus primarily on the role of being a promotional agency for attracting both foreign and domestic investors to invest in Fiji.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the bill proposes investment promotion, investment facilitation, export promotion, after-care, policy advocacy and image building.

The debate continues in parliament.
