Former Military Officer, Rajiv Padyachi has been convicted by the Suva High Court for attempting to kill his former partner last year.
High Court Judge Justice Chamath Morais agreed with the unanimous opinion of the assessors and found Padyachi guilty of one count of attempted murder.
Padyachi attempted to drown his former partner while swimming in Colo-I-Suva in September last year.
A team of police officers heard the woman’s cry for help and managed to save her and arrested Padyachi.
The woman sustained injuries during the alleged incident.
The sentencing hearing will be held next Thursday.
