Pacific Games: Team Fiji Women’s Touch Rugby secures 6-3 win over Samoa in first game

Team Fiji Women’s Touch Rugby has kickstarted their Pacific Games campaign on a high with a 6-3 win against Samoa this morning.

Head coach, Itoko Lorima says he is happy with the performance of the girls and settling earlier in the match was a bonus for them.

Lorima says he is confident that they will maintain consistency throughout their campaign.

Fiji led 1-0 at halftime.

They will now face Niue at 12.50pm today in their second pool match and will face host Solomon Islands at 2.10pm later today in their final pool game.

Team Fiji is currently in 5th place in the overall Pacific Games medal tally with 10 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze medals.

New Caledonia is leading with 54 gold, 37 silver and 34 bronze while Australia is in second place with 28 gold, 19 silver and 8 bronze.
