The Public Service Commission confirms that it is monitoring the number of government ministry and department workshops and training sessions being held at the hotels and resorts.
It was highlighted back in 2007 that ministries and departments would be encouraged as much as possible to hold meetings in their own conference rooms or facilities available within the government.
PSC Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said some meetings may need larger venues and appropriate decisions should be made with proper justification but they are now closely watching this.
Chand said as part of cost saving measures in the civil service, further decisions have been made in relation to the telecommunication service providers.
