The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama gives his address at the 2014 Water Authority of Fiji Annual Staff Excellence Awards at Novotel

The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has urged the people of Fiji to bear with the new upgrades and works that have been done by the Water Authority of Fiji throughout the country.

This was after the recent disruptions at four miles in Suva which has forced the Authority to implement some laws for the safety of the people living around the Suva area.

While giving his address at the 2014 Water Authority of Fiji Annual Staff Excellence Awards at Novotel last night, Bainimarama also apologized to those who have been affected under the Environmental Emergency Declaration.

He added that the government’s role is to ensure that every Fijian has access to clean drinking water.

Bainimarama also acknowledged the staff for their hard work during the major water crisis that was faced by majority of Fijians last year.

Bainimarama stressed that a total of $239 million has been allocated to the Water Authority this year where $176 million will be used for Capital Projects alone.

Meanwhile it was also an emotional moment for the staff as they took time to remember the Water Authority staff who passed away last year and the previous years.
