Fiji's Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will officially welcome delegates from twelve Pacific Island countries this morning at the Engaging with the Pacific meeting.
Twelve countries have confirmed their participation for the meeting at the Natadola Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.
Among the 12 Pacific Island countries include Solomon Island Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua, Kiribati President Anote Tong, Prime Minister for Tuvalu Apisai Ilemia, the Federated States of Micronesia led by Samson Petrick, and representatives from Niue, Tokelau and Wallis and Futuna.
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Michael Somare is expected to join the rest of the delegates later today and also arriving into the country this morning will be a representative from the Tongan government.
Meanwhile, Fiji's Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama following the traditional welcome ceremony, will address the delegates at the Engaging with the Pacific meeting where he will lay out Fiji's road map for strategic framework for change.
Commodore Bainimarama said ahead of the meeting that they expect a good reception towards the Fiji situation, as they have been honest, open and transparent in what they have been doing here in taking our country forward.
The Engaging with the Pacific meeting is expected to end this evening with a dinner hosted by Fiji's President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
