PM starts Kadavu tour today

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will be in Kadavu today for his week-long tour to assist in the distribution of relief supplies to communities that suffered heavily during Tropical Cyclone Harold.

The Prime Minister and his delegation will be distributing relief supplies including tents, stoves, water tanks, hygiene kits and shelter kits and food rations to these villages.

According to the National Disaster Management Office, 783 houses were damaged during Tropical Cyclone Harold and most of the number of houses destroyed or badly damaged are in Kadavu and Southern Lau.

The Prime Minister also visited communities on the island of Ono-i-Lau including Nukuni village, Ono-i-Lau District school, Ono-i-Lau health centre, the government quarters settlement, and Doi village.

He also visited Vatoa village, Vatoa District School and Vatoa Health centre on the island of Vatoa.

The government delegation headed by Bainimarama also visited Makadru and Yaroi village in Matuku before they left for Kadavu.
