PM Rabuka saddened by death of Dr Leli, condemns violence against differences
Sitiveni Rabuka

It is unchristian to go into violent reactions against somebody who differs from you.

Those are the comments of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in a statement as he says he is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of the late Dr Isireli Biumaitotoya, famously known as Dr Leighley Leli Darling.

He says he believes all other religions share the same values, and one should not offend or look down on someone who differs from you, whether in sexual orientation, physical condition, or whatever reasons.

He says he had attended a conference on Human Rights at Pacific Harbour with Dr Leighley and noticed that a lot of people were uncomfortable with him.

He says he contributed a lot in that conference.

Dr Leighley was found dead in a pool of blood in his home in Votualevu, Nadi, and police are treating his death as an alleged murder.

Police have managed to locate his vehicle, and investigators are following up on social media posts made by him before his death.

We have sent questions to Police about where the vehicle was located.

They are yet to respond.
