Over $100 million brought in by visiting yachts
More than $100 million have been spent by yachts which have visited Fiji from 2010 until last year.

This is according to a survey conducted by the Port Denarau Marina on the impact of the marine yachting industry to the Fiji economy for the past four years.

The survey shows that in the last four years, 2,487 yachts have been to Fiji while 149 were super yachts.

National Coordinator John Philp said the above is the direct spending by the vessel while in Fiji which does not take into account the personal spending of either the crew or the vessels guests while in Fiji.

Managing Director Yacht Help David Jamison said there are a lot of reasons why these yachts come to Fiji.

The total amount contributed to the Fiji economy from 2010 to 2013 from these yachts stood at $122,996,416.

Meanwhile, one of the world’s most expansive super yachts is currently in the country.

The super yacht “A” which is valued at around $323 million was spotted close to the Amunuca Island Resort & Spa.
