With just over a week remaining for the Fiji men’s 7s team to take part in the historic Olympics 7s competition, coach Ben Ryan says this is Fiji’s chance to showcase Fijian rugby at its best.

Speaking to the CNN in a special feature, Ryan says the players are really resilient and they know what it means to create history for the people of Fiji.

Ryan says 7s fever is at an all-time high and pressure is really building with the fans expecting the win in Rio.

Ryan says they will be in lockdown mode but he will allow the players to have their phones to take photos and videos during the opening ceremony this Saturday.

The men’s and women’s 7s teams who are currently training in Santiago, Chile will jet into Rio this Friday.

The Fiji men’s 7s team will take on Brazil in their first Rio Olympics pool game at 4.30am next Wednesday, they will then face Argentina at 9.30am before taking on USA at 4.30am next Thursday.

The quarterfinals will start at 8am next Thursday, the semis will start at 5.30am next Friday and the final will kick off at 10am next Friday.

The Fijiana 7s team will take on USA in their first pool match at 4am this Sunday.

They play Australia at 9.30am and then take on Colombia at 4am Monday.
