Opportunities for local players to play in Super Rugby
Fiji Rugby CEO John O’Connor

Players participating in the Skipper Cup and Inkk Farebrother Challenge will have an opportunity to play for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in the Super Rugby Pacific as a medical joker.

Medical joker is a rugby jargon used for a player who joins a club as an injury replacement on a short-term basis.

Fiji Rugby CEO John O’Connor says they have planned to run the local provincial competitions parallel to the Super Rugby Pacific as there was a request from the Drua to have players prepared as injury replacements.

He says at the moment, the Drua is looking elsewhere to fill in because Fiji currently does not have a running competition.

The Drua will meet the Rebels at 8.45pm tomorrow.

In other Super Rugby matches, the Crusaders will meet Moana Pasifika at 6.05pm tomorrow, Western Force will face the Reds at 11pm tomorrow, the Chiefs will play the Blues at 3.35pm Saturday, the Hurricanes will meet the Highlanders at 6.05pm Saturday and the Brumbies will take on the Waratahs at 8.45pm Saturday.
