Olympics women's football: United States beats Brazil 1-0 to win gold

The United States have claimed gold in the Olympics women's football competition after beating Brazil 1-nil this morning.

Both teams were tied at nil-all at halftime.

Mallory Swanson scored the winning goal for the US in the 57th minute.

This is their first Olympic football gold since 2012.

Meanwhile, Germany edged Spain 1-nil to claim bronze. China is currently leading the Olympics medal tally with 38 gold, 27 silver and 24 followed by the USA with 36 gold, 42 silver and 42 bronze, Australia is third with 18 gold, 18 silver and 14 bronze while Japan is fourth with 17 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze.
