Olympics 7s: China shocks Fiji 40-12 in second match

The Chinese Women’s Rugby 7s team shocked the rugby world as they thrashed the Fiji Women’s 7s team 40-12 in their second pool match at the Paris Olympic Games this morning.

The Chinese team showed determination from the start of the match, scoring three tries to lead 19-7 at the break.

Fiji managed to score only one try in the first half from Aloesi Nakoci.

The second half saw a lot of handling errors from Fiji, where the Chinese team capitalised, scoring another three tries to seal their historic win.

Fiji’s second try came from Ana Maria Naimasi in the second half.

Fiji's next match is against New Zealand at 2.30am tomorrow.

In other results, Ireland thrashed South Africa 38-0, Australia defeated Great Britain 36-5, and the USA beat Brazil 24-5.

The women’s quarter finals kick off at 7am tomorrow, while the semi finals start at 1.30am on Wednesday.

The women’s final is at 5.45am Wednesday.
