An Occupational Health and Safety Inspector has been charged with one count of manslaughter arising from a breach of duty in relation to the death of a 21-year-old woman who fell from a ferris wheel in Suva in June 2023.

Police say the charges have been endorsed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 34-year-old man will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Police Force is working to locate the second accused.

The 21-year-old woman and two other women fell from a ferris wheel that they were on at Fiji Showcase 2023.

Communications Fiji Limited had confirmed that all the amusement rides were independently operated and were passed by National OHS officials for which a certificate was received.
