Northern-based Flying Fijians benefit from early test window – Byrne

The timing of the Northern Hemisphere tour is ideal for Fijians based in Europe as it aligns better with their club workload.

This was shared by FIJI Water Flying Fijians Coach Mick Byrne.

Speaking from London, Byrne says the test window at the start of the European season allows players to join the national squad after just four to five club games.

This is a major contrast to the July test window, where players often arrive after playing up to 25 club matches.

Byrne says it’s a really good building phase for the Northern-based players, having them now is ideal because they’re just getting into their season.

Fiji will take on England this Sunday at 5.40am.
