None of the current flag designs are locked in stone - PM
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says none of the current designs for the national flag are locked in stone and if necessary they will review the current process to get the right result.

While speaking at the opening of the Raiwai Multi Purpose Sporting Court, Bainimarama said he knows the public reaction to the 23 designs that have been put out has not been entirely positive.

The Prime Minister adds he also knows that many Fijians do not object to the flag being changed but want a design they like.

Bainimarama says only after the designs have been put out, a lot of Fijians are now getting engaged and suggesting new ideas.

The Prime Minister urges every Fijian of every age and background to give their opinion on the current designs, suggest new designs and join the crusade to find a national symbol we can all identify with.

He adds they want a design that speaks to the experience of being a Fijian now and in the future and not the experience of our colonial past.
