Water supply for the Tamavua area, Delainavesi and other areas is expected to normalise by this afternoon as the Water Authority of Fiji has completed works at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.

The Authority says water levels at the reservoir is gradually increasing and supply is expected to normalise as it does.

Thousands of people have been facing water disruptions since yesterday morning as the clarifier at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant was affected by high levels of turbidity caused by heavy rain.

Turbidity is the amount of cloudiness in the water.

Affected areas include Nailuva, Delainavesi, Togalevu, Namadi Heights, Princes Road, Rewa Street, Sakoca, Khalsa Rd, Tacirua Heights, Dokanaisuva and Colo-i-Suva.

Water carting trucks are on standby and can be requested in case of an emergency by calling 1507.
