No road works will be done from 6am to 9.30am and from 4pm to 6pm from today.

This is an instruction by the Fiji Roads Authority to all it’s sub-contractors.

FRA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says this instruction was earlier given to the sub-contractors however they had not followed it.

FRA workers will be on the ground from today to ensure that the sub-contractors are not working on the roads during peak traffic times.

Moore also says that they do not want the students to be affected so they will change the working patterns at least till the 14th of November to make sure there are no disruptions going forward.

The Ministry of Education says 22 students between the Suva-Nausori Corridor had arrived late to their examination venues as a result of the heavy traffic jam that was experienced along Princes Road yesterday.

People travelling along Princes Road yesterday were stuck in traffic for at least three hours becauseroadworkss were being carried out during this peak traffic period.

Students who also left Colo‑i‑Suva at around 6am were still stuck in traffic at around 8am yesterday.

Permanent Secretary for Education Iowane Tiko says about 22 students had arrived late to their examination venues but the issue was sorted out.

Tiko says the exams went on as normal.

The Permanent Secretary says they have sent a message to all school heads to ensure that the candidates that arrive late to school are given access to the examination rooms.

The Fiji Year 11 Final Exam ends on today, the Fiji Year 7 Final Exam ends on the 9th of November, the Fiji Year 12 Examination ends on the 10th of November and the Year 9 Final Examination ends on the 14th of November.
