No permits required for certain places
People do not need to apply for a permit when having meetings at certain places.

This has been announced by Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as the government has legally empowered the Constitutional Commission through the approval of two decrees pertaining to the process of drafting a new constitution.

Sayed-Khaiyum announced that part of this decree also sets out that Section 8 of the Public Order Amendment Decree will be amended to allow full participation of all Fijians in the process. 

However he stressed that hate speeches will not be allowed.


The decrees that were gazetted are the Fiji Constitutional Process (Constitution Commission) Decree 2012 and Fiji Constitutional Process (Constituent Assembly and Adoption of Constitution) Decree 2012.
