No one will be removed from Lagilagi Housing in Jittu Estate.
These were the words of the Minister for Housing Parveen Bala when questioned by Fijivillage on the eviction notices that were given to 12 tenants of Lagilagi Housing due to unpaid rent.
Bala says that they will need to talk about these issues.
People’s Community Network Fiji National Director, Semiti Qalowasa had earlier stated that the eviction notices were given to six Phase 1 tenants and the other six phase 2 tenants that were moved in by the Local Government Ministry that were supposed to live there temporarily.
He says that the comment by the Minister will encourage people not to pay their rent because they know that government will help them.
Qalowasa says the People’s Community Network Fiji has given eviction notices but is now working with these tenants in trying to come up with ideas with regards to their rental payments.
