No interruption in the major services during water shutdown period - WAF

Water Authority of Fiji says it is ensuring that there is no interruption in the major services such as hospitals, airport, schools and hotels during the shutdown period at the Nagado Water Treatment Plant.

It says 63 water trucks are being deployed to cart water.

Thousands of residents living within the larger Nadi and Lautoka are facing water supply disruptions till next Wednesday.

Water Authority says that this disruption is a result of an emergency maintenance work that will be carried out at the Nagado Water Treatment Plant.

The work involves the urgent replacement of a Polyjet section of the pipeline from the Vaturu Dam to the Nagado Water Treatment Plant.

Water Authority says that this particular section of the pipeline is leaking and is resulting in large amounts of water being lost.

Areas that will be affected are the Nadi and Lautoka areas except the Lautoka City Centre and some outer boundaries of Lautoka who are supplied through Buabua and Saru Water Treatment Plant.

Water tanks are being placed at strategic locations for people to go and fill in their containers and gallons.
