No final decision has been made on the request from the Fiji Electricity Authority for an increase in tariffs as confusion now surrounds the statement released by cabinet on Monday night which announced an increase in FEA tariffs by 15 percent from September 1st this year.
Commerce Commission Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy said as far as they are aware they are still working on the submission from FEA and a decision is expected in the next few weeks.
Dr. Reddy is not aware how the Cabinet statement was released saying that the increase had been granted.
Transport Minister Timoci Natuva when contacted this afternoon referred all queries to the Permanent Secretary for Information Lt. Colonel Neumi Leweni saying he is responsible to release cabinet statements to the media.
Lt. Colonel Leweni is yet to comment on the cabinet statement issued earlier this week.
