No excuses for dirty restaurants – Chief Health Inspector

The Chief Health Inspector for the Ministry of Health Dip Chand says there is no excuse for having a dirty restaurant or eatery.

There have been complaints about the sanitary condition of a popular restaurant in Laucala beach and Suva.

Chand says restaurant and eatery owners know the standard that is required of them and should not be complacent.

When questioned on whether health inspectors are also being complacent in the way they are monitoring and inspecting restaurants, Chand says there is no excuse as they should know the right thing to do.

There are currently 124 health inspectors in Fiji and a municipality would at least have five health inspectors.

Chand says people should directly lodge a complaint with the Ministry of Health if they notice health inspectors are not doing their job properly.
