No cases of the new strain of COVID-19 at our border quarantine facilities – Dr Waqainabete
Health Minister Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete.

Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says there is no cases of the new strain of COVID-19 at our border quarantine facilities.

Dr Waqainabete says they are well prepared if there is a case just like how they prepared at the beginning of the pandemic.

He says we must realize that it is likely that the new variant will travel the world and countries are now beginning to ask for pre-flight and pre-departure negative tests.

Dr Waqainabete adds they have increased the infection control measures and expects the strength of our border control measures to increase with the vaccination of all border front-line workers.

As of last Wednesday, Fiji has five active border quarantine cases.
