New morgue for Tavua hospital by July 2026

A former councillor and representative of the Tavua Ratepayers and Citizens Association, has called for urgent improvements to Tavua’s infrastructure, especially the need for a new morgue at Tavua Hospital.

Speaking during the Fijian Media Association Town Hall Meeting at Golden Centre last night, Dhirendra Singh said that for many years, Tavua has had no morgue.

In response, Senior Divisional Medical Officer for the Western Division, Doctor Renita Maharaj, stated that plans are in place to build new morgues at both Tavua Hospital and the Nadarivatu Health Centre within this financial year, with completion expected before the end of July 2026.
